Client Case Study: Russell Group University – Support for IT Services Department

Client Challenge

In 2013, a Russell Group University required a selected panel of recruitment providers to support its IT Services department to deliver IT projects and programmes, and to increase capacity for BAU operational work. We were selected by the University, following a full market competition, due to our track record of success within the Higher Education Sector, our understanding of the market challenges that they faced, and our expertise in the identification and selection of high-quality IT candidates.

Our Solution

Our Dedicated Account Manager worked with the university to understand their service level expectations. They worked with Hiring Managers to understand the pipeline of requirements, enabling us to conduct pre-sourcing work and build capacity against skills that will be required in future. This was done at no cost or obligation to the university and enabled us to provide CVs against any volume or type of requirements within 72 hours of a live requirement being issued.

The Account Management Team was responsible for building relationships with university stakeholders, identifying candidates using a multi-channel sourcing strategy, conducting a rigorous level of qualification on each candidate, and submitting high-quality shortlists that were precisely aligned to the university’s needs.

They have fulfilled over 200 vacancies for the university, covering an extremely wide array of disciplines and technologies, including legacy systems, mainstream technology and cutting edge toolsets.

Value Delivered

We have enabled the university to meet its strategic objectives, providing high-quality candidates that have been ideally aligned with requirements.

The candidates that we have provided have been instrumental in supporting the client to establish its Information Digital Group, whose vision is to empower students, academics, research communities, and staff, by providing cutting-edge tools and resources, allowing them to maximise their potential and achieve excellence. This includes spearheading innovative initiatives such as advancing the academic experience with a state-of-the-art digital research library, amplifying data innovation, perfecting the digital twin, and democratising access to high-quality education.

The contract has been recompeted four times and we have been successful in being re-awarded on each occasion. This is a testament to our understanding of the university and our proven track record of delivering a high-quality service that provides genuine value for money in the Higher Education sector.
