Client Challenge
Our client, an NHS Foundation Trust, plays a leading role in advancing cancer care through research, innovation, education, and clinical excellence. As part of a major investment in cancer services, the Trust:
- Procured a new Epic Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system
- Constructed a new £80 million Cancer Centre at the heart of its campus
To support these programmes, the Trust required a supplier with deep healthcare sector experience and access to a large pool of highly skilled technical professionals.
Following a comprehensive market evaluation, LA International was awarded a framework contract and began delivery immediately.
Our Solution
We deployed a domain-specialist Account Management Team, led by a dedicated and experienced Account Manager. The team engaged with stakeholders to understand the Trust’s:
- Strategic goals and vision
- Technical landscape
- Organisational culture
We conducted horizon scanning to anticipate short-, medium-, and long-term needs, and invested in proactive resourcing programmes to build capability ahead of demand, at no cost or commitment to the client.
The contract’s flexibility allowed us to deliver services on either a Time and Materials or Fixed-Price Statement of Work basis, enabling us to shape requirements and propose the most cost-effective solutions.
We responded rapidly to urgent needs, initially deploying 14 Epic Deployment Engineers, which scaled to 26 within two weeks to accelerate the EPR programme.
Capabilities Delivered
- 26 Epic Technical Readiness Engineers across all main and satellite sites
- 8 Epic Testers to troubleshoot and resolve pre-Go-Live issues
- 6 TDR Engineers for technical diagnostics and resolution
- Programme and Project Management, including clinical systems, Epic EPR, and relocation expertise
- Development SMEs and Solution Architects
- Go-Live floorwalkers providing 24/7 clinician support
Value Delivered
We deployed over 50 specialists, forming high-performing teams that were instrumental in:
- Ensuring the Epic EPR implementation met its Go-Live date
- Completing the Cancer Centre’s IT infrastructure on time, enabling its scheduled opening
